At the 1999 Brief Encounters film festival, the web filmmaking site, plugincinema.com, was launched. Five years, and lots of digital adventures later, we are returning to the Brief Encounters film festival to celebrate our 5th Birthday!
In the last five years the site has grown from being the off-shoot of a PHd to getting around 40,000 hits per week. It has spawned the first ever book dedicated to web filmmaking, was awared the accolade of being in the Top Ten Best video web sites by Internet Video Magazine. It was invited to participate in the Film Council's Digital or Die roadshow, 3 Electic Demembers, it was discussed at the Sheffield International Documentary Festival and ISEA (International Symposium on Electronic Arts, Paris), featured on the BBC, HTV, and the Financial Times (to name but a few). The site has featured some of the leading thinkers, artists and pracitioners in technology and media today.
Come and join us for a tour though the last 5 years and a look at what the future holds...
The event will be on the 20th November at 12.45 in room C2 at the Watershed.
